“Inner Light : Nurturing the soul, awakening the spirit.”

Listening to stories about our Gods and Goddesses and the greatness that they embody as a child, I always kept those stories alive in my heart wherever I might be.

On the Great Path

To live is to learn.
For this life is a blessing.
Waste it not with foolishness.
Ignorance and falsehood
Seek the truth.
Seek and find it.
Address them all.
Matters of the heart
Of body and mind too.
They are a part of it all.
Be it strength, intellect, or love.
Value them all if you may.
Achieve them all, I would say.
For the path, they are.
Out of the Darkness.
And towards the light.
Oh Soul, oh Infinite, oh Goodness.
That’s what you are.
Know this, O Seeker.
And on the journey to fulfillment.
May you go far.

Krishna—The Ultimate Being

Oh Krishna,
Oh Great Warrior,
Oh Divine Lover,
Oh Beloved Cowherd,
Oh Great Avatar,
Born to educate
And restore the cosmic balance.
Your eyes full of love,
Compassion and Valiancy.
Protector of Vrindavan,
The divine abode.
Killer of the demon tyrant Kansa,
And demons, uncountable.
Your grace, your power
All simply unmatchable.
Your words and teachings
Spoken to Prince Arjuna,
Echoing in the minds
Of intellectuals forever.
Your love for Radha ji.
Whose eyes opened?
Just for your blessed sight.
A tale as sweet as honey
Told to lovers alike.
Your blessing slight
While grazing the
Holy cows and calves
On the fields of Vrindavan.
Your flute in hand
The music of bliss
Giving life to all around it.
Oh, great one.
Like Sudama,
I long for your company.
As a friend,
Kept dearly in your heart,
As massive as the cosmic ocean,
Where you reside.
Forever watching,
Forever caring,
Forever loving.
Hare Krishna.

The Darkness Within

There is a darkness in us.
That plagues our thoughts.
Burns away courage as
our great energy is lost.

What is this darkness within us?
A entity that taints the soul?
Stops us from achieving victory,
Of achieving our every goal.

It stops us from doing what’s right.
From doing what is just.
Such ideas and thoughts.
Wipe it out, we must.

So, worship not this darkness,
This filth that leads you astray.
That points towards
Every wrong way.

Find the courage to combat it.
To do what should be done.
For it is the true way to live.
A great battle to be won.

Strength lies in courage.
God delights in courage.
So go forth, great warriors.
It’s no mystery.
Vanquish your demons.
And achieve victory.

Janmashtami

Blessed was the day,
When it was heard.
The declaration from the sky,
Spoken by the divine voice.
The decree was of the end.
of the demon king Kansa.
By his sister’s 8th child, no less.
The worst sins and depravities
We’re committed to preventing
This holy prophecy.
But the will and brilliance of
The Divine Lord Vishnu,
Prevented any demonic hindrance
From it, it was time.
To take the form
Of Goodness Incarnate.
To deliver the world
From evil everywhere.
On that blessed day,
He came into our world,
In a more beautiful form than
Anything these human eyes see.
And so began His journey.
Of fun, mischief, loving, and caring.
To end the reign of evil and
To begin the divine eras to come.
For the glory of all.
His name is Love.
His name is Beauty.
His name is Glory.
His name is Krishna.
The Darling of Gokul.
The Savior of Mathura.
The Lord of Dwarka.
Oh, Krishna.
This Janmashtami.
I say it again.
Glory to you.

For the Mothers of Vrindavan

Oh, tortured mothers of Vrindavan,
What dark karma brought you here?
Homeless and Hungry
Cold and weak.
Tired and Alone.
What crime of which birth
Is he absolved by this torture?
This I am left to wonder.

What breaks my heart most
It is the place you live in.
Is this the heavenly abode?
Of that great Gwala?
The songs of whose flute
Moved nature itself.
The one whose face melted hearts
And terrified demons alike.
Who is purity personified?
I think not.

For this ‘divine land’ I see
Is ripe with pain and misery
As if the tyrant of Mathura
Reborn and powerful
Took over it immediately
Once the Gwala took his leave.

For no divine power shall allow
Such pain to remain
Such sorrow to see.
What pain and what agony.
My pity and respect for you, mothers
For in this dark yuga
Suffering is often a sign.
of greatness and divinity.

I hope only that whatever this may be
Tradition or ignorance,
It may be foregone.
So that this cursed world of ours
Might just be an imitation of
Of the great world
When the Gwala still resides
Watching over you and me.

The Tenets of Kalipurush

O Kalipurush,
O depraved lord of this yuga. I see your power.
In the hearts and minds of those over whom you tower.

So that they may consume, defile, and decay.
Walking towards every wrong way.
Perverting their thoughts and desires
Just paving the way for destruction
Corruption, ignorance, and hate
All left in your wake.

Like an animal, you hunt some.
Fueling their fears and tears
Their loss of hope and innocence.
While on the others sins, you feed.
Their anger, lust, pride, and greed
As they delude and burn themselves
In their very own self-made hells

What a great demon you are!
Who were Ravana and Duryodhana?
But mere men, defeated by lust and pride
Your minor agents were their so-called might.
A testament to your supremacy.

Whoever conquered time and space.
And lost it in a moment’s time.
Is no match to you.
You, O depraved one, are the greatest.
For you control them all.
Through their own pettiness and spite.

Your strength-destroying strength
Your intellect-destroying intellect
You whose existence is challenged,
But also, worshipped by all.

Darkness Personified
Chaos Incarnate
Root of All Evil
Embodiment of Sin
You are supreme.
You are eternal.
Or are you?

Because of all your glory
You fail against a true devotee.
A humanitarian undermines your efforts.
A true lover proves you wrong.
A great learner ends your propaganda.
An innocent child ends you.
A wise old man bends you.
Brave men and women resist you.
They and many more deny you.
Your undeserved praise.

Your reign may come,
But your reign will end.
O King of Depravity
It’s not for eternity.
The Divine, less maybe
Still resist, learn, and see.
Better places there are to be
And with all their might.
They move out of your darkness.
And into the divine light.
Their salvation.
Like the great Lord Kalki awaits.

The Demons around me

I see demons of all sorts around me.
Burning and consuming everything I see.
Like the Veda-thief Hayagriva,
They deny the boon of knowledge.
Like the tempter Mara,
They hinder any great voyage.
Like Hiranyaksha, they torment the Earth.
Like Hiranyakashyapu, it’s whom they gave birth.
Tyrants like Kansa and Sahastrarjuna
Who oppress their people, caring for none.
Intelligent and powerful they may be.
Like knowledgeable Ravana and kind King Bali
Their demonic tendencies still reign.
In this dark age of the demon Kali,
Who works to stoke the dark fires,
Tempting with the darkest desires.
To lust, to steal, to gamble, to kill.
As existence itself goes downhill.
I pray for strength and wisdom.
Of those 10 glorious ones.
Who end such fiends.
Whenever the world bleeds.
With faith in myself and others,
I hope to face the demons of today.
Victory to hope and goodness.
Kindness and Morality.
Love and Charity.
For all and me.
